 Starter Motor
Does anyone know what part number I need for a starter motor for the K3? (metro GTi) local factors say there are lots of variants. I understand there is a slightly more powerful version 0.8Kw too. Not sure if it really is my problem though, it turns over slowly when cold but enough to start ok but when it all gets hot it hardly wants to turn over at all and won't start, it bump starts easily though.

 Re: Starter Motor
When hot it sounds like you are getting heat-soak, it's a common problem with mid engined cars.
Maybe a bit of cold air ducting would help?

 Re: Starter Motor
Problem could be the size of battery cables as the cable run is very long. I have doubled both live and earth cable up as my car used to struggle sometimes to start now alot better. Also check that you have got a good earth path. Matty

 Re: Starter Motor
Im torn between thicker cables or a second (smaller) battery in the back of the car (and hope it doesn't cook)

 Re: Starter Motor
Sorted now I think! it was the link strap connection between the solenoid and the starter! Had been wondering how to pull through bigger cables from the battery. Saw a couple of nice GTMs this morning at Woburn Sands, looks like they will have a good day, some wonderful cars there.
