 door handles/door locks
Okay, I'm hoping that some of you are able to help me out with this one..... I am restoring the doors of my Heerey GTM currently and have a question about the door locks and inner handles. I am looking for the inner door handle that is operating directly to the latch, similar to Dino's Heerey GTM and as far as I can see this was also used on early Coxes as well. Who knows where I can get the inner handle and door locks? One of you might have something laying around or might know a parts supplier that has these things in stock. I have checked at Holden.co.uk and Moss Europe, but the problem is that I cannot find out from which type of car the locks and inner handles are......... To give you a good impression about the system I would like to have on my car, I have attached a picture of Dino's door. I hope someone is able to help me. Thanks in forward guys, Michiel.

 Re: door handles/door locks
Hi Michiel, missed the bit about the actual handles in your email. They're a fairly standard 1960's BL part, I liberated mine from an Austin 1100 many years ago! Minispares still seem to stock them http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=37059&title=DOOR%20HANDLE%20MONTE%20CAR%20CHR... I don't know where the latches came from but I would suspect they're also a BL part, there was an enormous amount of standardisation in the '60's/70's most British cars seem to share many components, I'm sure they wouldn't have been specials.

 Re: door handles/door locks
That's also a good idea Stuart . But first I would like to see what can be achieved with the original locking system. Now, I have made some pics from both the lock (that is on the body) and the locking plate (that is on the door). On the back stands a number 1004 and "BS" which means British Standards I've heard, is this right? I need both for the nearside door, so for in the UK the drivers door. Please take a look at the pics below and I hope someone has these items, or knows from what type of car they come from . Thanks in forward everyone!

 Re: door handles/door locks
Michiel, BS1004:1972 Is a standard for zinc alloy die casting And those locks are not "anti burst" so I would not use them, get something more modern. In addition to the Allegro, the flap catches were used on Marina, Range Rover and IIRC TR7

 Re: door handles/door locks
Thanks for the info Pantera, I wasn't aware of that. It's indeed a good idea to get more modern locks on the car, although I don't know if and how they would match with the Lotus Elite door handles I want to put on the car. The old locks seem to fit easy, with a minimal change on the system. Perhaps you have any thoughts? I have attached a pic of the handles

 Re: door handles/door locks
It might be useful to see the operating mechanism on the back of the handle?

Age - not me. I'm in touch with my female side, I've started counting downward.
