Post MOT
Well decided to take the car for an MOT this evening. The tester was a bit bemused as to how it was registered on a 1988 plate but had a K series engine in it, but as the V5 stated it was what it was he had no alternative but to do the co test as an 88 one which meant no revving just sat at idle.
When he did the hand brake test it sort of went "loose" but he wasn't sure why even after putting back over the pit to try to find out.
The offside rear fog light didn't work but we established that it was a bulb.

The end result was a pass (thank you).

Any how one interesting item was that this particular test station has a set of brake rollers that also weigh the vehicle.
The tester was still in the car and the fuel was about a quarter full. The front axle weight was 480kgs and the rear axle weight was 520kgs.

Tax tomorrow and the wife can have a car back on the road for the weekend. Still needs bits doing and the paint will have to wait for later in the year.

Well done.

I don't think I've met a K3 owner that can mention MOTs, without saying about the handbrake.

Looks like it is going to be a good weekend for going out for a drive in it too!

Thanks, I have just got the tax so I will be picking the wife up from her works in her car as she doesn't know I've got it sorted.

Then I will have to show her the little foibles that I have found out about, (not winding the windows to their stops or you take a chance of smashing them as you slam the door shut plus other bits). and then I can watch as she stalls it many times before she realises she is in 3rd. not 1st. and the clutch is fairly stiff, but then that will be my misplaced sense of humour. I know she will soon sort it out just takes a little getting used to.

After that I should have a few weeks before I get a list of the things that she would like seeing to  (probably the first thing will be an hydraulic clutch system).

This also now gives me time to see what is wrong with the daughters car after she rolled it earlier this week (quantum is now looking very sad for itself).

Note that if you search "gtm" on ebay, a tidy Quantum pops up - might be worth a look if the smashed one is past it?

Thanks I did have a look but liked the Rossa as well. I have a feeling that both will go up towards the end of the auctions and as I am a bit limited in the amount of cash I want to throw at another car for the daughter I doubt either will be in my price range. (daughter to date has cost me a small fortune in cars since she was 16 years old (MG midget, couldn't get insured - Vw Nova, couldn't get registered - Second Nova, still under rebuild - Peugeot 406 Diesel Saloon, wrote off - Quantum, wrote off). and that's without taking into account the added expense of adding her to my car insurance before sorting out the Quantum.

Kids!!!!! aaaaghhhhh and I have three more as well. :x
