 Coupe and SVA
Guys - Can you tell me of any specifics for the Coupe when putting it through an SVA? Has anyone here been through one recently?
Thanx
Phil

 Re: Coupe and SVA
I know that the indicators are too low, which is why the primo design car has them like the elise.
I'm sure there are other bits too, but you'd be better going through the regs and working out where it might fail.

 Re: Coupe and SVA
Here's a couple of photos of the Primo Coupe that I scanned from the build manual. I guess they must be about 5 years old now. It doesn't look as if there were many changes but you can see what Tim means about the indicators. I also know that there was a fuel filler flap in the bonnet but I don't know whether that was SVA or just common sense. I made mine after I saw that.

Yup, the fuel filler is another one John, it must be an external filler.
I know they don't like sharp edges on things either.

 Re: Coupe and SVA
It has to run split circuit brakes, and have a warning light for low brake fluid. I might be wrong, but I believe the standard Mini twin master cylinder is too tall to fit under the bonnet.

 Re: Coupe and SVA
If you mount the master cylinder from inside the tub, you can space it down into the foot well by use of some longer mounting bolts and a few bits of steel tube, it then clears the bonnet

 Re: Coupe and SVA
Has anyone put a servo from a later mini on a coupe? I put one on my last Marcos, and that fitted. Or you could possibly do away with the servo bit and just utilise the 90deg bracket? Pic makes it look quite low http://www.detoxcomic.com/mini/mini7.jpg

The coupe is light enough not to need one. If you do want one i think i have a remote one somewhere

 Re: Coupe and SVA
You should be able to use the dual circuit cylinder without the servo. You'll have to make up your own bracketry and so on and you may have to work on the pedal leverage to get a workable pedal pressure. The cylinder bore will be sized to work with a servo. Simply removing the servo will leave you with a high pedal pressure unless you increase the pedal leverage.

 Re: Coupe and SVA
You can use the Mini servo and dual circuit cylinder. I fitted one when I built my Coupe in 1997 and have had no problems. The bracket needed lowering and the whole assembly rotated 30° anticlockwise around the vertical pushrod. This was necessary for the servo to clear the subframe tower. I fitted a larger fuel tank (10 gall) which overhung the rear of the subframe with clearance for the servo. The Coupe was built for daily use and has lots of "optional" extras which have increased the weight to 735kg. It was last used at Avon Park in 2006 but needs a paint job.

 Re: Coupe and SVA
I used the dual circuit master cyliner of the top of a metro servo. It needs some minor alterations and it works fine.

 Re: Coupe and SVA
Hi If you look at the pics of the Primo Designs Coupe you'll see another requirement for the SVA is that the headlamps were slightly too low. I believe that's why they appear sunken back in order to be able to lift them very slightly higher, along and up the curve of the wing. Another problem was I believe, the steering column and the collapseablity of it. I think Peter Leslie used a Metro column. Hope this helps.
