 Windscreen fitting
Right I put the new heated windscreen in today however, it "A" appears to small? or "B" the rubber I brought is not wide enough? (Wollies 6mm Glass/2.8-3.2mm panel) There is a gap around the edge (as can be seen in photo) where the heater strip can be seen, there is also slight (visable) gaps at the bottom LHS and at the top RHS. Has anyone got any suggestions. I haven't put in the filler strip yet in case there was an outlining issue, the filler stip may sort the problem but I'm not sure. Please help.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
Not an uncommon problem.
I used the Mini screen rubber with the extra flange but it only seems to be obtainable as a one piece loop section so I had to buy two then cut them and re bond them.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
I was never happy with how my screen fitted so when I painted the car I reglassed both the front and rear opening and trimmed them as I wanted, Did you do this yourself?

I would be interested to find out more about the mini rubbers and bonding them together? Question is why did the old window fit ok? I should have kept the old rubber as a comparrison. Re: Windscreen fitting
It does seem to be a 'standard' problem. I would love to have had your difficulties, as I had the opposite fitting my screen - it seemed rather large! The body is of course very floppy when it's off the chassis and there's no definite position for the fixing, it doesn't take much distortion to alter the aperture significantly. In the end I unbolted the front and moved it about 1/4" on one side and the fit improved dramatically. The other point is that the rubber does widen and alter profile quite significantly when the filler is fitted - it may be worth trying to see if it covers the gap.

Yeah, I'm to try the filler strip and see what happens, I'm just waiting on a loan of the instertion tool. Fingers crossed.

Ok I'm pretty sure I need the wider rubber, gtmdriver wrote: Not an uncommon problem.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
I bought mine on ebay. The were complete loops sized to fit a standard Mini screen so I carefully split them both keeping the cuts square. I glued them together to form one long piece, fitted them to the screen aperture then cut and glued the other ends to form a new loop.
If you wanted you could leave one or both joints without glue and use screen mastic to seal the joints.
I used gel type superglue to bond the ends together.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
I found this whilst scouring the net, what do you think?, I can't find a profile of the wide mini rubber so I don't know how it compares. http://www.rejel.com/product/8510.aspxCan you let me know if this would work otherwise I will get this http://www.rejel.com/product/6816.aspxand join 2 together, any ideas would be appreciated, I seem to have the same issue on the rear. Re: Windscreen fitting
Hi, ive just recently fitted my windscreen back into my coupe and i used that wider coach rubber and it fitted perfect and is plenty wide enough to take up the gaps and its not to wide that it looks odd or anything.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
I got a length of "Large" for the front from Europa and "Medium" for the rear screen. I placed the rubber around the frame, then added about 40mm before cutting and glueing with superglue. IMO, the ONLY things superglue will stick are rubber and skin. The extra 40mm is partly to squash the rubber on to the frame, and also to stop any shrinkage over time from opening any gaps.
Edit: All done with a very old and very blunt/rounded flat head screwdriver and fairy liquid.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
Does anyone know where we can purchase a new screen for a GTM Coupe,? We cracked the front screen slightly on the Cheviot stages over otterburn this year.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
Ah, that's a shame. Sold the last heated one I had in stock a few weeks ago. I could order some more but it will take a while and I can't just order one.

 Re: Windscreen fitting
I bought Dino's last screen and we fitted it this week - well I say "we" fitted it, my mate and I spent and hour and a half trying to fit it and then gave up. We got a tame windscreen fitter in the next day and he fitted it, but it took him over an hour. It looks fabulous.
When I was looking for a screen i tried Rossabitz - no reply; and I spoke to a guy who said yes he could supply one but no reply, I rang him back & he said oh yes I need to sort this out and I never heard another word.
I bought Dino's screen which is fabulous although the electric heating I do not need in my track only car - it has no alternator anyway.
