Post Made me a new steering wheel.
When you're as agile as I am getting in and out of a Coupe is not easy. I keep getting jammed under the steering wheel. I decided I needed one of these new trendy 'D' shaped wheels, but they tend to be a bit modern in design and also expensive so in the end I modified an old Astrali that I had lying around.

The leather covering was damaged so I cut it off and threw it away. I carefully split the foam padding and removed it. The actual metal wheel remaining was a thin 1/2" x 1/4" bar. I cut out the lower section, straigtened it out and welded it back in place. I shortened and re-bent the lower spoke then cut and glued the foam back in place. Finally I re-covered it with a Halfords leather steering wheel cover. The Leyland logo will be replaced as soon as I fing something more suitable. Can you get GTM ones?

I know what you mean with the problem of the steering wheel. I am thinking of getting one of the removable ones at some point for mine. Added security too, if they can't steer the car!

I'm going to look into making some labels / artwork for mine (new chassis plate and other bits), if I work anything out I'l let you know.

We have lasers at work, so I might have to talk nicely to the guy who runs them.

John, I'm pretty sure you used to be able to get little round enamel GTM badges because i think there was one in my old gearknob. Axel has it now, so he could confirm or not :?

Does the club do key rings? If so they might have badges on them about the right size.

Last time I think I used sheet of adhesive foil, that you can print on from a laser printer and cut a logo out from that. I used it for the legends for the switches/lights too.

Iam sure the club has the small badges in stock and on key rings and would look the biz on your wheel John! (Thanks again Tim)

A Mini Marcos Club member recommended a company called Classic Capsules.

They made me these from artwork I supplied.

They are actually silver and black although the flash photo makes them look gold. They are exactly 28mm diameter rather than the more common 25mm.

They arrived less than 48 hours after my initial enquiry and cost £9 the pair including p&p.

They look superb John. Do they only do silver?

Doesn't sound a bad price.

I might invest in some myself, once the car is a little closer to being finished. :D

I specifically asked for silver/black and for 28mm OD. I would imagine that they'll do pretty much anything you ask for.

http://www.classiccapsule.co.uk/homepage.htm

I e-mailed them with the artwork and what I wanted.

They replied with a price.

I said OK.

They e-mailed a Paypal invoice.

I paid it.

They were made and posted the next day.

Do they do discounts for larger orders?

Could the club buy some to sell on? Could we get Westfield interested in pitching in?

Just a thought?
