Rossa: Attaching rear bumper/tub
Hi, bought my Rossa a while back on ebay (ie didn't build it myself).
Took the rear tub off as it didn't seem to be well secured. The 2 main bolts are fine. Mine has a bit of bent steel bracketry at the back which appears to have been welded to the sunframe. Doesn't look right to me (and the welds had broken - hence my problem).
So, how shout it attach. The build manual isn't too clear. Anyone got any ideas/photos??

Re: Rossa: Attaching rear bumper/tub
The bent bracket should be made of stainless bar, it should be bolted to the subframe not welded (through the holes that the subframe would be bolted to the footwell on a mini. It isn't too sucessful. I've added a couple of extra bolts (rivinuts) into the flying buttress bits on the tub, and made a a couple of tubes with large washers on each end and nut welded into one end (to bolt through from the boot and a stud in the other end to bolt up to the subframe). Makes removal of the boot section easier, and is lighter too. It is possible to counter sink the rivinuts using a fostner bit.

This is how mine looked when I removed the tub. You can see where the bar mounts and the two square pieces at either end for the tub to sit on look as if they are either there as spacers or to spread the load - I'm not sure which (or even if they're part of the kit) but I think that I can improve on it a little....

Re: Rossa: Attaching rear bumper/tub
You're right, the spacers are likely not from the kit - there were none in my kit. The purpose is to get the boot to the correct orientation to fit with the boot lid and central tub (as I'm sure you've worked out). I'd guess the instruction manual envisaged packing it out with a load of washers (its usual method).
