Post Rossa Mk. 1 Window Winders
Hi All,

Are the window winder mechanism unique to GTM or are they off a donner vehicle?

The channel which lifts & lowers the glass on mine are quite rusty and need replacing. Are the channels available separately or do you need to get the whole mechanism?

Any one got any spares?

PS. Rossa passed its MOT last week just needing a wiper blade :D :D

They are definitely Mini and available from Mini Spares - at a price! I have just ordered new rubbers for mine. However, they need to be shortened a bit and I can't remember offhand by how much but it's in the build manual. For the record, the winder mechanisms are Mini as well.

Thanks, I should be able to trim them to the one that are on now.

I assume its necessary to take the whole window assembly out to change them?

Yes, remove the window - it's safer and you have less chance of breaking the glass when removing/fitting the runners  The procedure according to the manual is to unbolt the winder mechanism from the frame (presumably with the window about half way down)and manoeuvre it around to disengage it from the runners and then lift the window right out. If I'd read that first it would have been a lot easier to remove mine
