Post SDCC Curborough 2012 Dates
Some dates for peoples diaries if you're interested in taking part in some sprint events at Curborough with SDCC:

Saturday 17th March - Marshals Training Day
Sunday 18th March - Members "test" day
Sunday 15th April - Introduction to Sprinting Day
Sunday 20th May - Single Lap Sprint
Sunday 15th July - Double Lap Sprint
Sunday 16th September - Double Lap Sprint

The intro day is usually free and all you need is a driving licence (no helmet or race suit etc)

For the other events you will need a non race national B licence from MSA and to be a member of SDCC - you will also need a helmet and race suit but neither of these have to be the expensive ones, some bike helmet qualify (and are VAT free) and the suit can be Proban upwards including the FIA1986 standard which are quite cheap second hand on ebay as they are no long allowed for circuit racing yet are 3 layer Nomex!! You will also need gloves.

Any questions shout up

Hopefully my Coupe will be back together in time

Post Re: SDCC Curborough 2012 Dates
Hi David,

I didn't think any bike helmets qualified for MSA events. I am happy to be shown to be wrong, but the scrutineers are very fussy about helmets. Gloves also need to be FIA approved.

I have not looked at the dates that arrived in the post the other day, but there must be more SDCC championship events than the ones you have listed???

According to our (SDCC) scrutineer some of the bike helmets also carry the correct BS standard that the Blue Book refers too. If this is the case then they are acceptable and because they are being sold qualifying to a BS they do not attract VAT. The standard to look for is BS 6658 Type A/FR.

With regard to dates I'm sure there will be more but these are the club dates as opposed to the championship dates. If you are a member of SDCC you are entitled to do both in any case.

Yes, gloves need to be to FIA1986 spec as a minimum from memory - section K of the blue book will tell you all you need to know:
