Speedo cable
I need to replace the speedo cable on my K3, does the inner need to be pulled out from the speedo end? if so any idea of how the instrument cluster is usually held in? Also anyone know what the standard gearing ratio gives revs/mph in 4th and 5th? 13" wheels 1400 K16. Thanks Peter

Re: Speedo cable
First thing - I take it from the question it's the top of the two parts (the GTM part)
You could try Alan (rossabitz) or Dudley at Talon
If it's the bottom half (attaches to the gear box) there are 2 kinds of cable, but my local ?x-part? says that only one kind is now available.
I will try and post a pic of the end's of the spare cable that I'm sure I've got to give back to Bob Snooks.

Re: Speedo cable
Thanks Malcolm, the cable has broken right at the gearbox and there is nothing protruding to get hold of to pull it from that end. I managed eventually to get the cable out of the speedo end and tried pulling but it still won't move. I thought that on this car the 'extension' cable had been removed as it has come with a piece about 2-3ft long in the box of spares. perhaps there is another join somewhere? any idea of roughly how long the metro cable is or where abouts is the join normally so I don't have to do too much dismantling? Thanks

Re: Speedo cable
I'm sure the gear box to join was less than a yard

Re: Speedo cable
Ok Malcolm so the join in the cable should be just inside inside the monocoque by the sound of things? Peter Btw.Is there a reason I can't see postings in some sections, like members cars?

Re: Speedo cable
The join in mine does not get as far as the mono. it's just on the front of the back ?boot? ?box?

Re: Speedo cable
Discovered that only the long section extension had been used and the original gearbox end grafted onto the end. Have stretched the inner getting it out and don't want to take out the rest to measure it. Anyone know how long the extension piece is? Rossabitz doesn't have the info on lenghts nor do Speedy. Thanks
