The "Midlands Meet" ?
I keep seeing the title "Midland Meet" but Newark!, you could get done under the trades description act Seriously, I know from all the car clubs I've belonged to its about who's willing to turn up so good luck to you. However, having just got my Mk1 Rossa I wouldn't mind looking at a few others to compare notes. Any other MK1's (or even 2's) around the West Midlands ( I live in Redditch) area? Will there be any at the NEC in November (Classic Car show), Stonleigh in October (Restoration Show) or other shows this year?

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
O.K. reddi-eng (and others) I have got the picture. In future the meet will be refered to as the "East" Middlands Meet. Actually my base is in Lincolnshire but I supose that you "South" and "West" Midland lads think that that is a sand bank somewhere out in the North Sea, but we East Midland folk can take it!!!??.

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
You should thank yourself lucky that your meet is that close The 'Southern' meet is 216 miles from me in SOUTH Devon

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
I think that 216miles is just a teeny bit too far to go for a meet. Why not start a "Devon Meet"??

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
I concur - the "Midlands Meet" is 80 miles away from me.
We maybe have enough of us in the area to do a West Mids meet sometime?
There's at least 3, maybe 4 of us in Staffs alone.

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
I'd be up for an occasional meet and nose around other people's GTMs, but it'd be difficult to make it too regularly due to work commitments, which might mean me cancelling at short notice too.. I'm in the WS7 area of Staffs anyway...

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
OK guys, go for it, organise a "West Midlands Meet" If you contact Bob Halington the Club Membership Secretary, i`m sure he will provide a list of Club Members so that you can write to all in your area. You could be surprised how many turn up. (Make sure you include Mr Hadlington, he has been giving me earache about the "Midland" Meet for a long time.) Good luck in the project.

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
And why not combine the two now and again and have a regional "Midlands" (Middle Earth?? ) meet? And, for that matter, why not have a national GTMOC club weekend somewhere (or does this already happen?) or are there too many things already in the calendar? Sorry for the slight hijack btw...

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
Well, West Midlanders, where do we go from here? Being new to the club I'm not sure how our events are organised (I'm sure somebody will let us know ) Whilst pub meets are, good they do rely on a good turn out on a regular basis as has been suggested in other posts. One alternative which has proved popular around where I live in North Worcestershire has been multi-marque informal pub "shows". We have a monthly one in Stoke Prior where about 20 or so misc. cars turn up ususaly invited by word of mouth. At least then you have someone to talk to in no other GTMOC members turn up There are also a lot of other "classic" car shows both large and small, although our cars are still relatively young do we believe them to be classics? Future classics I think yes so perhaps we can nominate some shows in the area and arrange meets there? Certainly a good idea for 2010 to get a series of shows identified so lets have your suggestions. As nights are closing in now perhaps a weekend is better. Suggestions please. Incidently, I know from my other classic car club that only about 25% on members use the on-line forum. Is the GTMOC forum similar? There are 195 forum members, how many club members does this represent? Derek

Well I'm sure Dave Boyer will be along any time soon to talk about the weekend that we used to run (which for the life of Me I can't remember the name of) that started off strong, and dwindled to almost nothing.

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
I believe there was a good showing of GTM's at Stonleigh in May (I was there on another stand) Could that be encouraged as the "National day"?

Re: The "Midlands Meet" ?
Isn't the shootout at Avon Park usually seen as the main one for us? Or is it just me?
