A Series engine 1544 cc :-

Titan roller rockers

Ported and polished head

Competition cam – not stripped to check which sort

Double valve springs

30 mil Exhaust valves 35 mil inlet.

Engine bored to 73.5 with Omega forged pistons

Turbo crank – believed stroked to give a stroke of 91 mil

Light flywheel, balanced.

Competition clutch.

Aldon distributor

All mated to a five speed gearbox

Believed to have covered about 1200 miles. Runs well, seems to be in good nick.

Anyone interested - if I ebay it what sort of reserve?

Regards,

Allen

What's it worth? Lots of money, but i'd be tempted to split the box from the engine.
The people who want a 5 speed don't necessarily want the engine with it and vice versa.
I'd estimate just short of a grand for the box and about £1500 for the engine. Have a look at ebay completed listing - i've not seen an a-series over 1440cc for ages.

I should have pointed out that the engine was built in 1990 the gearbox purchased in 95.
(got lots of paperwork with the car). Mileage of about 1300 - on engine, considerably less on gearbox).

Engine built by Freeway Motorsport Winner of the fastest mini in the world (35th aniversary event) in 1994.

Take your point about splitting the box from the engine (has straight cut drop gears -does this pose a problem -assume one stays on the engine and one with the box - never seperated one before  )

I guess, if I could be bothered I should strip the engine and sell off the parts seperately - but I can't.

Allen

Are you sure about this crank as the Turbo crank (6232 crank) cant be stroked that much, due to rolled fillet radai (ie, an under cut journal) 83 stroke is on the limit. The only way that this would be possible is to weld up the under cut and then re machine down, Not nice. Is it possible that its a billet crank?

What manufacture of 5 speed box is it, K.A.D., Jack knight or just a 5 speed gear kit from Minispares?

I haven't stripped the engine but build sheet states turbo crank (doesn't mention extra machineing) - I've measured the stroke (and bore) and it works out at 1544cc.

Gearbox made by Minipower http://www.minipower.com/gearbox.htm
