Hi Oliver,
Had to post on here as I had problems with the pm.
As you can see from the pictures the bracket does go higher than the sphere but not by much. The triangular brace piece is 137mm high + the 3mm thickness of the plate gives 140mm above the subframe sphere holder. because the bracket is fairly narrow you shouldn't have to butcher the heater vent too much.
On a separate note I have some spare spheres which you are welcome to (off the K3 and MGF) if you need them.

Comes as a kit of parts that clip together for welding giving a bit of mechanical strength as well as welded strength. About 30 quid for an axle set as shown. Takes GAZ 13 inch adjustable shocks and I have used 200lb springs on mine which seem man enough for the job.

It's a bracket to fasten the torque tube to that comes from the body tub. The original bracket was welded to the subframe sphere top cup.

The bracket is only needed on the rear subframe. From memory the front torque tube fastens to the front edge of the subframe. This was the mistake that lead to the floaty front end, the torque tube was shortened slightly to tilt the subframe backwards a little in order to give anti-dive but it didn't work and gave a very light steering feel. Scary on the motorway!

What are the advantages of switching to coil overs from the spheres. I will need to rebuild the whole suspension system on my K3 and not sure which way to go, rebuilt spheres and pipework or coil overs. Any recommendations and reasons why?

The main reason I'm switching to coil overs is my spheres are all leaking and there is a lack of good/new spheres still in existence and the good ones aren't cheap, so liking a bit of a challenge I decided how hard can it be!

Short term I'm also looking at doing some autosolos/sprints in the car so being able to tune the handling by swapping springs was another bonus.

Being a suspension designer by trade, my (very) long term plan is to build new sub-frames (because why not) would need coil overs then anyway - so might as well get them now!

My reasons for changing was the spheres are only adjustable for ride height which changes with the temperature and as I was making my own front subframe I could get fully adjustable suspension with double wishbones. I haven't got around to making a new rear subframe yet so I adapted the standard subframe to coilovers.

After buying the shocks and all the parts required to fit them, I finally got round to fully checking each corner for clashes today! (I had given a quick glace over it before)

Front appears to be fine with minor modifications to heater blower and a minor movement of the washer bottle, but on the rear it looks like I'm going to have to remove my rear anti-roll bar to fit the coil-overs (currently no roll bar on the front), it's not a huge issue as I can fit some with an arrangement similar to http://www.gtmdrivers.com/forum/k3-anti-roll-bars-t3463.html should I decide the car needs them, but until I've driven it it's hard to tell!

I have used the MGF rear anti roll bar which fits on brackets hung from the rear subframe mounts. There is a tiny bit of clearance needed where it bends but it should work fine. Though I have used the MGF rear suspension setup. You will see what I mean.

I currently have the same setup as you (MGF rear subframe, suspension and anti roll bar) but I can't see how you'd fit the roll bar around the shock as it pretty much passes through the same points.

I'll have another look tonight/tomorrow but it's going to be very close even if I can move the ARB back by 15mm (the max the rim will allow)
