 K3 - offers invited
My K3 has to go as I need the 'garage' emptied for building work. Owned from 1998 and regularly driven up until 4 years ago accumulating 34,000 miles. Built 1997 from a 1995 donor with registration from an unrelated A series car. Has 1.6 MPi engine with Metro gearbox and re-mapped Metro ECU. Not started since stored as fuel will have gone off. Professionally maintained, with new clutch fitted after last MOT outing in 2012. Hard and soft tops, Remote central locking with key immobilser, Northlight stainless steel exhaust, MGF cable gearchange, and remote thermostat fitted. Has MX5 seats and tidy interior. There are the expected gel coat cracks and a bit of a dent underneath where it went over a boulder going down Burrington Combe. At the last MOT I was told the rear subframe needed paint - the builder having laboriously removed the underseal! Originally ordered in magnolia gelcoat the builder chose to paint the car signal violet using cellulose. The car was rebuilt after head-on crash in 2001 with front clam now a slightly different colour to the rest. In it's time a nice car making regular trips from Somerset to Stoneleigh. Pictures were taken in 2008. It owes me nothing after 18 years and will be scrapped if no takers. If not quite a project it needs lots of TLC and realistically a re-spray. Buyer to collect from East Somerset.

 Re: K3 - offers invited
Hi Steve, Still got it. £300 to a good home if I spend no money on it would be good. My garage thinks it would be all right for me to try and start it, so that's what I'll be trying once it's been charged and fluids checked. I bought it as a finished car and made some improvements, but the great thing is that there's always more that can be done, sometimes quite easily. The garage that looked after it was Capazzolis in Ilchester and the mechanic there reckoned it was as good a kit car as he had seen. I was told that the rear sub-frame will need painting for the next MOT and I'd be tempted to put the Rover 420 calipers on to get a better hand brake (included though something needs machining for them to fit). Being extensively K series Metro based it would be a good first kit car. It's the same idea as the MGF, but with no body rust and better access to the engine. Cheers, Steve

Good price, shame about the challenging colour but would be a good base for a project

 Re: K3 - offers invited
Just an update to say that the car has been started (despite the stale fuel), and run up to operating temperature. I had foolishly left the handbrake on so that had seized, but at least it released fairly easily unlike the clutch. With the car warmed up my wife had to sit in the car pressing the clutch pedal to the floor in third gear whilst I rocked the car backwards and forwards with a crowbar under the rear tyre. The upshot is that the clutch did release and I was able to move the car inside the garage under it's own power. I've also cleaned up the area of the rear subframe highlighted at the last MOT and the rust does look superficial. Some photos showing the current condition of the car have been added to my Flickr album. https://www.flickr.com/photos/57812514@N03/albums/72157670261339494Still open to offers, but am starting to think I should get an MOT on it! My GTM has been sold, and I reckon it's going to a very good home!
