V6 OBD connection.
My V6 Libra has the Siemens ECU but the old Rover MEMS/Metro-style round 3-pin connector. It's a factory-built car so presumably the 3-pin connector can access the ECU - or is it just another unused relic from the old Metro loom? Anyone managed to successfully access the ECU? Thanks in advance.

Re: V6 OBD connection.
I have a V6 with a standard OBD port that connects to both a gauge I bought and a wifi plug in 'dongle' with a phone app. I think it uses 5 wires.

Re: V6 OBD connection.
If the ECU is OBDII it needs the (5 wires) rectangular connector. The 3 pin round Rover one only has earth and two coms(?) wires. I'd guess yours is defunct.

My 3-port plug is located on the front n/s inner wing. Where is your OBD port? It's possible I've missed it.......

Re: V6 OBD connection.
Thanks for the info.
Siemens EMS2000 is definitely OBD2 compliant, so that probably confirms the 3-pin plug is useless (thanks Sidewinder).
If I can't find an existing OBD2 socket, I should be able to make one if I can find out which ECU pin connects to which OBD socket pin - I feel some Googling coming on........

Re: V6 OBD connection.
On the Mems 3 the OBD only needs three wires - pink for data signal, purple (IIRC) for ign switched 12v power and black for earth. The OBD socket I used was from a MGTF and it had a number of other pins/wires but I think these are for inputs from other stuff the GTM doesn't have like ABS controller, airbag controller etc. I mounted mine in the engine bay as that is where the ECU loom is rather than taking wires forwards.

Mine is accessible but yours could be behind the dash. As far as I know, all OBD2 ports are inside the cabin so maybe whip the top off the dashboard and see if it's behind there.

Mine is under the bonnet on the passenger side.
I bought a Bluetooth dongle for it, as I felt it was safer than making someone sit on the front of the car when using it.
The benefits of a plastic car is the signal gets through the bulkhead without any issues.

Re: V6 OBD connection.
FYI the bluetooth ones continue to draw power even when ign is off.

Re: V6 OBD connection.
I'll have a look behind the dash - I'll be very pleased if it's tucked away in there.........

Re: V6 OBD connection.
Had the dash out today, unfortunately no sign of an OBD socket.....I'm sure it will be great fun refitting it. I wonder if my three pin socket is connected?
Still, it gave me chance to do a few jobs e.g. lubricate the wiper mechanism, run some cables, clean everything.

Re: V6 OBD connection.
Eureka - had a good look around under the front clam today and discovered the OBD2 socket tucked away behind the heater intake. Plugged my Bluetooth OBD2 dongle thingy in but can't connect to the app on my phone - it doesn't see the dongle as an available Bluetooth device. The socket didn't have any form of protection, so open to the elements and probably has some corrosion on the terminals but apparently these cheap Ebay dongles aren't very good - what do others use to get at the OBD info?

Re: V6 OBD connection.
I bought a cheapo bluetooth reader (streetwize) and used Torque Lite program cos it was free.
