Westfield in administration.
It seems that Westfield cars has gone into administration. I wonder what will happen to the GTM side of their business?

I wonder should the club approach the administrators to establish how much the GTM business is worth? Regards, Steve

If nothing else to make sure that things that would only ever be useful to us lot don't end up in a skip. If we were to consider taking ownership of things like moulds then storage would clearly be an issue but hopefully someone will have a big shed. Who is best placed to make a telephone call? I'm happy to if nobody else volunteers.

Re: Westfield in administration.
It would be worth a call on the basis of securing moulds for spares and not as a business to produce cars

Re: Westfield in administration.
The problem with the moulds is that it's not just a question of simply storing them.
Multi piece moulds need to be stored fully assembled or they will gradually distort so, in the case of the main bodyshell you'd end up with an assembly that was actually bigger than the car itself. The surface also deteriorates if not stored in the correct conditions so, with the intermittent use likely to occur with these particular moulds, they would need a lot of preparation each time they were used.

I would imagine the tub moulds are already in a poor state as far as I know Westfield have never used them. I believe some moulds were mislaid at some point.

Re: Westfield in administration.
This is such a crying shame - Westfield should have offered the moulds/jigs/etc for free rather than letting them rot. Maybe someone with a related business whose overheads were covered could have built the odd car now and again, or even made a few spare parts.
