Hello I have just got round to starting back on my Rossa rebuild and the wiring loom has been cut up and damaged beyond repair which is going to spell the end of my project unless i can get one. The only thing i can do is break the car and sell it as parts which i really dont want to do but i cant see another way to get enough money back to try and start saving for another Rossa. If any one can help in any way either by looking to see if it can be salvaged or if i can get another one at a reasonable price I would be very greatfull. Thanks for taking the time to read.

not as yet, only looked at it today. I seem to have a main loom and a few small ones. A few plugs look to have been cut off and and there are a few single wires that have been cut and pulled out.

just been looking at one of the spare mini looms i have and it looks like it would be easy to fit it in the engine bay and then extend all the arms of it to where i need and swap from metro to mini interior switches and fit a mini 3 clock instrument moulded into the gtm dash before covering it.
phew.

A brand new one sold on ebay the other week for not very much!

I have one out my Rossa, but it may have had one of the multi-pin connectors lopped off and its covered in overspray. Doesn't sound brilliant but might help. Let me know if it would help and I can dig it out and check it out/take a few pictures for you.

The one on ebay was from a coupe but advertised as rossa. I was the higher bidder for ages until he messaged to say it was for the coupe and I cancelled my bid. I bought the speedo cable from the same guy and just swaped the speedo end for the one from my old one. Do you know which plug is missing and how much you want for it including postage because i may be able to make one good loom out of them.

You can buy 'universal' looms which you could use with a bit of fiddling around.

The wiring is not too much of a problem it is more to do with multi plugs and any relays that have
cut off that are for specific things and I dont know where to start trying to find new ones. Thanks for the suggestion though.

What type of column switches are you using? Are they the basic Mini Type or the Metro illuminated ones? Somebody had tried to fit the Metro ones to mine and really hacked the wiring about to the extent that it was only fit for scrap. The Mini switches are very simple and use 'proper' wire that can be worked with and crimped rather than the thin rubbish fitted to the later Metro which also need dozens of relays. To get to the point, I managed to get a new loom (the last from Rossabitz, I believe) which I modified because I didn't use the Metro switch panel but fitted switches, instruments, etc (and 20 fuses!) as per the photos on my project thread and used the old loom to keep continuity of wire colouring. There are not many relays in the system (off the top of my head there's only one for the starter motor and I fitted two for the indicators/hazard lights) and I might still have some of the multipin connectors (I haven't checked!) which have been cut off the old loom and I think that the spades should be replaceable in them - you are welcome to have these if they're any use to you but you can get new ones from car electrical suppliers although you'll have to use both male and female sides. ALSO, if you pm me your name and address I'll send you a full wiring diagram for your car if you want it However, the diagram is for the basic Mini switches as above. Hope this helps.

I can fit mini swithes easy enough and I have mini stalks. The loom I have just seems to have too much done to it for me to economically work with. I am good for diagrams but the metro side of things it has seem a bit more awkward. I did think about using a mini loom and sorting it out that way and use the mini fuse box and swithces as i never have troubles with them in my minis. If it is alright with you I will try to send you a picture of the ends and see if you know what they are supposed to do.

Okey dokey Put some photos up and I'll have a go. The loom is very much Mini adapted for the engine being behind you and the Metro bit is just the plugs for the Instrument panel (MG Metro with tacho) and switch panel which I cut off anyway. I don't see any problem in using a Mini fuse box.

Dont dismiss the Metro loom so soon. I am using one from a MK2 in my Rossa. It still used the A-series engine, but has a proper blade style fuse box and nicer connectors etc over the mini loom. Yes there are loads of relays etc but if you follow the metro wiring diagrams its easy to modify.

I've extended the engine cables backwards and sorted out the dash and stalk wiring so far. (getting two looms was the way to do it. I can extend cables and keep the colours consistent!)

You also get the all-in-one dash from the later metro (mine even has a rev counter!) and if you get a high spec metro loom you have all the wiring in place for central locking, electric windows and all the other gubbins which a mini loom would struggle with.

Just a thought. Like I say, I still have the Rossa loom so if you need any bits off it let me know.
