Post brake set-up advice
Hi All,
Please advice about the right brake set-up for my coupe.
My try and error method failed. At the rear I fitted solid disc.24 mm.and MG calipers with one piston 35 mm..
Which disc, caliper, pedalbox and mastercilinder will give the best results.

I look forward to your advice

Wim from Holland

That totally depends on what you want to do with the Coupe, I had uprated 1275 GT mini brakes on the front and a modified VW golf disc setup on the rear, I ran a adjustable bias pedal box with mine. That setup works very very well, it stops on a dime. But thats probably a little exteme, maybe just the GT brakes up front and drums rear?

I have vented metro 4 pots up front and mini drums on the rear with an adjustable bias valve.
Stops very well!

I used 8.4" Mini solid discs with Metro 4 pot callipers and EBC Green stuff pads at the front and standard Mini drums at the rear.

I had a standard single circuit master cylinder and I didn't use a bias valve

7.5 discs on the front and std drums with 19mm bore brake cylinders on the rear. Assisted with a remote servo, it is working well soo far. Though I think I could do with slightly more power on the rear. Somebody menshioned using MGB brake cylinders on the rear? Maybe...

Late MGB GT cylinders are the biggest I've found so far at 7/8" (22.2mm) part no GWC1122 approx £8 from MGPartsUK http://www.mgpartsuk.co.uk/prods/pc169.html

I've got Metro 4 pot fronts and Fiat X1-9 rears(disc), along with tandem/split master cylinder and hand brake cables. I've just bust the bleed nipple off the O/S/R , so I'll need to change the caliper to test them out (FIAT= Fix it again tomorrow). New stainless steel bleed nipples to be ordered.
Andy. Your bias adjuster I presume it reduces braking at the front? What's your % front?
I also have Fiat 132 rear calipers (larger diameter piston) but might be too much.
I'm also going to get this beast on the road soon!!!!
