Post Jacking points
As a new K3 owner is there an image anywhere of where I can jack it up and putt stands under it safely? I am going to strip down the whole back end over winter but for now just want to put a new timing belt on it and run it up so I can see what i have. Its the violet one from the sale section I bought from Steve.

I expect a K3 owner will be along to say for sure but if its anything like the Spyder (flat grp floor to the tub) you can jack pretty much anywhere under the floor but best to go for somewhere there is a vertical rib above like the sill area. I always spread the load with a bit of wood too.

I very nearly went for that K3 too but you beat me to it! Hope it turns out well for you - keep us updated and with lots of pics. :)

The only time I've jacked on anything other than the subframe, I put a 2m piece of 2x4 between the jack and the rear of the floor - seemed to work ok.

Jacking points
I was advised, by Dudley at Talon Sorts cars, that if I was to change to a 1.4 twin cam from a 1.1 carb engine I would need a Metro Gti fuel tank. So I was lucky enough to find one on Ebay and proceeded to fit it to my then Libra (now owned by my youngest son). I was aware that there are no jacking points and so was very careful to lift each corner about an inch at a time and lift the axle stands up at the same time. Having arrived at the maximum height found that there was no way I was going to get my not inconsiderable bulk under the car and change the tank – ie not room for me and definitely not tank.
So pause for cup 'o' tea and reflection with the resultant thought – NO WAY.
I then proceeded to let the car down, using same caution as when lifting, but when letting down the rear off side the whole car decided to come off all the jacks and fell (fortunately for me) forward.
Some rude words were muttered and the car inspected to find (thankfully) no damage.
I replayed the occasion over in my mind – it could have fallen whilst I was under or in front of the car with aweful consequence and I've got a GTM Coupe to finish and two Lancia Fulvias to mend let alone the engine in the Libra and at 67 I've NO time to spend in hospital.
So, having researched the net I found the Ez Lift. It is a really good piece of kit and only needs a reasonably powerful drill (I use either a Milwaukee combi or a Metabo cordless) to lift the whole car to give 26” of clearance (plenty of room for my bulk) and up to 4000lbs.

Post Re: Jacking points
Some years ago I watched a demo of Ezilift at a classic car show, but was put off by the price. Actually, I've never had a great problem with jacking/axle standing either a Libra or a K3, taking reasonable precautions of course. On thing I do, though, is to insert a piece of thick "greyboard" (a cheap, bulky board used in the printing and packaging industry - corrugated would probably be just as good) between the body of the car and the jack or stand. And I wet it first. This does two things. First, it goes some way towards protecting the gelcoat on the car, but second, and more importantly, it reduces the tendency for the body of the car so slide off the jack.
To improve safety, I also put a spare tyres underneath, so that in the event of mishap, I should be relatively safe.
I think fitting a tank in a Libra is best done by two people. Two other people.
