Post K3 Roll Cage, MSA homologation and effect on insurance?
I'm currently looking at buying and doing up a K3 over the next year, with the aim to have it as my daily driver, with a small possibility of using it on the track and some point in the future competing in it.

Because of this I want to install a roll cage from early on in the build/refurb, maybe doing similar mods to the Talon K3R, using the cage as a structural part of the chassis. Have any of you seen if this car got finished and do any of you have an pictures of it as the ones on their site are dead?

Have any of you, or do any of you know of someone that has successfully put a roll cage (rear or full) in a K3 and had it pass either MSA or FIA standards? If so you have any pictures of it? Also from doing a bit of reading it's unclear if it needs to be homologated to be raced, or just fit the specifications in the blue book?

Also, I know putting a roll cage in a road production vehicle increases the insurance by a considerable amount (£550 to £1700 for a Clio sport), so I was wondering if any of you have put a cage in a GTM and told your insurance, and if so what the cost difference? I know most people don't bother in Locosts or other 7esque cars, but to me something like a GTM where the chassis is a common design between each car, you'd have inform them to to avoid invalidating it.

As most kit car drivers use specialist insurance brokers I suspect it won't be a problem. When I renewed mine this year they asked the standard question "any modifications" I answered - "its a kit car - the whole car is a modification" but then listed everything I'd changed from the original kit. I used AIB this year as it was a bit less than the renewal through Frank Pickles. Under £100 for fully comp but limited mileage (<3000 miles per year).
