I'm making slow but steady progress with my coupe. Not as easy as i thought but definately getting there!

As its technically a rebuild there is already a heater in there, not sure what its from, it doesnt look like a mini or metro that I've seen before. Its around the same size but has slider/switches on the side rather than in the middle.

There are a few dolomite bits like steering column and clocks (i thought it had a dolomite dash but i think i might be the lucky owner of a GTM one). Again though, I dont think its a dolomite heater.

So as far as aesthetics go, I would rather lose the heater and have a nice clear cockpit with a clean carpetted tunnel straight through but I know I will probably want a heater in the long run.

Has anyone has any success with electric heaters? Considered stashing one behind the dash with an on/off switch on the dash, but i'm aware theyre usually pretty Toffee due to the power available. Ive seen some micro heaters which may do the job but at around £100 its a bit steep.

So what does everyone else use (if anything)?

I used a Mini heater but hid it behind a centre console which reached from the bottom edge of the dash to the top of the transmission tunnel.

I'm planning to steal the idea from T7 design and just use a matrix and a couple of computer fans. I've got a bunch of fans from the back of some old comms kit we slung out at work and I was thinking of just using the Mini matrix since I know I'll be able to get a replacement in the future but if a different matrix is better/easier I'll use it.

I "designed" my heater using a mini matrix and some easy-to-get bits. Take a look at it on my site if You wish (cr.fw.hu) . Funny, but it worked .
