I'm not sure on your budget, but K.A.D.s front hubs/uprights are worth a look. They are expensive but a weight saving in the rigth place

Another upgrade for performance if you are just using the car on the road where you can't go flat out, have a look into changing your final drive for one that will let you leave the unsuspecting road user shocked.
There are plenty avalible for the A series

I'm intending to remove the oil cooler and the pipes from front to back of the car, should save a good few KG, will fit a laminova or modine if I find it necessary. Also considering fitting a lightweight battery (Powervamp PVR25 - http://www.powervampracing.com/powervamp_car_batteries.asp, saving perhaps 4 KG. These stand heat and can be mounted on their side so could be mounted nearer the engine - less voltage drop and a saving in the heavy battery cable.

Regards,

Allen

Just had a good look on ebay at the digi clocks really like the idea found a few lightweight racing seats on there aswell for a reasonable price just need to find a lightweight heater, the main question i have is what lurks beneath the dash of a rossa ie the structural stuff that has to stay does anyone have a pic? ive seen some shots from peoples projects but they all seem a little different?

If you look at my thread in the Projects forum the third pic down on the first page shows exactly what GTM supplied for the Mk1 - I presume that the Mk2 is the same but I don't know about the K3 and maybe that's the reason why you found some different ones.

well picked mine up today it doesnt look as nice in the flesh as it did in the pics but it was very cheap the brakes are shockingly bad and the engine has no guts although it starts first time and ticks over at a steady 1k the old man reckons the valves might be closing up as its really quiet and as he put it too quiet the interior is a mess stuff falling apart everywhere so just the excuse i was looking for to save weight by riping it out lol and quit possibly the quikiest use of the heated screen and blower switches ever to start the car you have to flip one switch hold the other down and turn the ignition key very random :)

I removed a door from my Mk1 tonight and was surprised at how heavy it was. The complete door as removed weighed 15kgs and when completely stripped the door shell itself only weighed 4kgs. I didn't weigh the bits and pieces separately but there's a lot of weight in the glass and winder mechanism. Just thought I'd mention it :)

i,ll have to post some pictures later but I have removed the drivers side door card after it mostly removed itself  and the mechanism looks to be really lightweight im not sure what options there would be in terms of removing these because keeping the car water tight is already an issue so i dont think replacing the glass with perspex would help if anything it would probably make it much worse, got any ideas?

Well, finally put a lighter battery in (RMD Racing 25 Battery
[RMD25]).

New battery 5 KG, old battery 14KG -i.e. 9 KG saved.

Battery started the car which had stood for 2 weeks - in garage so not really cold. Battery mounted in the front - original psition, so probably some voltage drop before it gets to the starter and electronic ingition.

Battery may also struggle if every thing is on and ticking over in traffic - will let you know how I get on.
