4A-GE '83 but don't go there. Honda D series goes back to 83/84.
Edit: Vaux 1.8 or Sri130 was a good engine, or Sierra Cosworth on an RS2000 box.
The Ford 1.6 CVH was a good engine if looked after.
Am I being sad?

I'd like to keep the car in line with it's build date so really want to go with a 1980's engine..........which is limiting! You don't need to spend £5.5k to build a decent A series. Have a chat with Carl at Force Racing; his cranks are probably the best without going billet/EN40B. MED will continue to charge ridiculous figures if people are willing to pay it. It all depends on how much power you're after. I'm going to stick with the A series for now but every time I see photos of a VTEC in the back of a Coupe it makes me want to go that route...

I would like to put a 1.6 Vtec in my coupe, to replace the D series Honda that I currently have - who can make me a frame?

 Re: New Member
David Can you use one of the standard kits produced for mini's? That way you will get the beefed up suspension etc to cope with the power. Suggest we talk as I might be interested in taking your existing setup of your hands......... These guys might be able to mod their standard kit: http://www.watsonsrally.co.uk/html/conversion_kits.htmlDavid

 Re: New Member
My personal view is you can do better than a mini kit, alot of them are good but could be better, and when i looked many would not fit unless you changed wheelbase, hence why I am doing my own with proper a arm style suspension, still using mini uprights it is just time at the minute im struggling with using he car and work.

 Re: New Member
watsons when i looked, basically used a metro frame, so all new suspension as it is all different to mini, it is wider track and for a mini to the best of my knowledge requires an extended front.

 Re: New Member
You are right, it does need an extended front for a standard mini. I have asked them if they have any experience working on a GTM.

 Re: New Member
It might be worth talking to Allspeed -- they do frames for GM/Honda/k series in mini -- the frames have a kink in the front cross bar, I think to clear the exhaust, which means they won't bolt up to the bulkhead but they might make one with a straight section and then lead the exhaust out over the top of the cross bar through the end of the tunnel> The Allspeed frame retains mini suspension with doughnuts or coil overs so the GTM system should fit.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/largep ... model=CARSIf it goes in the front of a mini - how about the back of a coupe?

 Re: New Member
Watsons have worked on a GTM Coupe before and will produce a space frame for the back, standard width which will take a B16 engine. I am going to try to go to see them.
