Hi Rob, is that the engine inside with the carbs? just tell the lady the sooner its finished the sooner it will be out and in the car
You are getting stuck in
John

Haha no just the carb I'm on the top floor remember I doubt I could get the whole engine up the stairs, although it would be nice to work on it in the warm!

Also I bought a cheap set of used wheels and tyres to get through the MOT and tide me over until you get back to the UK so we can do a deal for the those wheels I sold you so we can keep swapping back and fourth if you like?

I want to get cracking on the interior as well but I think I am going to make a custom dash out of wood as the plastic one really isn't how I want the dials laid out and its not in great shape as mentioned previously.

In pieces the block is not too heavy, and assembled 2 people could carry it if you speak to "her" nicely
I am looking to see what Toyota wheel I can get as they fit the stud pattern of the hubs I have fitted, but I do have the other set of hubs as a fall back

Nowt to do with this really, but I used to live in a 3rd floor flat and built a Mini engine and gearbox in the spare room  It came in pieces from Oselli in a tea chest and was much easier to carry down than it was to carry up

So made a little progress today

I fitted the new water pump and the new oil pump no problems there.

Okay now I need some help as admittedly I am not totally sure I get the difference between pre-verto and Verto clutches but to me it appears I could have a half and half set-up with the clutch?

It has the pre-verto slave cylinder mounted to the top of the bell housing

and an inertia starter motor (this isn't my one but it's the same)

Image

so I went ahead and ordered a pre-verto clutch kit. Now it looks like the innards are verto (again not my actual engine but it looks like this)

Image

If I am misunderstanding something please let me know.

Assuming I do have a mixed bag can I use the clutch plate that came in the pre-verto kit? It looks exactly the same as the one I removed. Below is an image of the type that I removed and have re-fitted (it is not the type with springs in the plate)

As ever help is appreciated :)

I went for the standard size as the Spax I removed from the car appeared to be standard length so I went like for like with the replacements.

I need to try and crack on with things really but a few set-backs have knocked the wind out of my sails again (it doesn't take much to be honest) I started looking at modern cars on the internet you know the ones I mean, ones that work :)

No no no be positve! I will get it done...I think :?

Hi Rob
I would imagine everybody who builds a project like these things gets knocked back every now and again, I feel glum whenever I look my to do list and compare with my jobs done list, just keep saying it will get done and then bask in others respect when the ask did you build it all yourself.

Couldn't agree more. I did mine all on my own (that way I got it the way I wanted it :D ) and many times I felt like putting a match to it but, as John says, it's worth sticking with it for the satisfaction at the end. And then there's the first time on the road
