Rear Shock Absorber Mounting
Our project GTM is progressing slowly (my son will update his thread soon) but I wonder if we could pose a question. The project car we bought has separate shock absorber brackets fitted at the rear while the new chassis has welded on brackets. Which type would you guys recommend? The separate ones look stronger to us (although the previous owner has fitted the shock absorbers upside down!). If we used those however, we would look to add a tubular spacer where the bolt goes through.

Never seen separate brackets before! If you use the fixed style a good modification is to gusset the bracket to the chassis leg that runs back to the bulkhead. There is a topic about it somewhere, West has done it to his car I think. Simon

Just to clarify, the way your new chassis is done is the correct GTM design.

The separate ones looks like they are only fixed in place using one bolt?

Re: Rear Shock Absorber Mounting
You can't see in that image but those separate brackets have a horizontal part that sits between the subframe and chassis in place of the spacer at the top of the subframe. I'll get a picture of a whole bracket tomorrow and post it. I thought they were a standard GTM part and you guys would recognise them.
They look a very strong design (except that they need a spacer tube for the bolt) so I'm tempted to cut off the factory brackets and use them.

Just found this picture on another post and it answers my question. They are for the Rossa!
