Hi Guys!

Camelot Restorations are one: me (cr.fw.hu). And Yes, I was the guilty who bought this car  . I have two excuses: first I will spend 7-800 hours of my life to restore this gem, second, I will do quite long trip to pick it up (2000kms). Thats my life. I have done a couple of Minis and thsi one will be my most pressious. Please Michael forgive me this rude act...
By the way, if only I would like to ask some help in my project. It would be marvellous if I could take some photos and have some discussion on the early Coxes when I wisit England. Best would be to see one if possible. Can anybody help me? :?:

Hi "Camelot", Well done on your purchase of the Cox.
I did notice that the vendor was wanting to get the car and trailer removed in 7 days.
If you have any problems in getting across from Hungary? I am sure that between Pete and myself we could remove the car to a place of safety for a short period of time (We both live in central Scotland).
I also have an early Cox (1967) - Still not restored after 19 years  I also have a 1970 GTM Coupe but reshelled as a 13" version.
Best regards, Douglas.

Hi,

Your kind behaviour is warming my hearth! Realy. And I wouldlike to say, that if the seller is not willing to wait some days, I would rather accept the pickup/cover for a short period. I have an Mini MkII to finish (I must as it was sold :) ). It will take a week or soo and the trip is 2470kms with my good old T3, it means minimum 3 days, but rather 4.
Seeing another original Cox is an ultra-bonus. Of course if You have any expenses, I will compensate - naturaly.

Glad to see it is going to a good home. You'll have to keep us all informed of the progress once you get started on it.

Hi Mates,

My trip time is very close. The seller had fortunatly removed the car to his new house, thus I need not hurry. I think I will leave Hungary on monday. The trip to Scottland will take 3 days. After the pickup i will spend one day in Scottland to rest a bit and then start back. If You think it serious that You would like to help me, I would be gratefull to have some tel no.-s, in case if anything unwanted happens.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer. I still have some problems with my Transport vehicle, but hope the best.
I have never been to Scotand before, though I had some close-affairs with scotch whiskey on my 21 birthday... Actualy it was a couple of years ago
If You ever whish to come back to Hungary, I can offer acomodation in southern Hungary. Actualy the beer is not THAT cheap, but at least drinkable. Food is just like in the haydays (with much red pepper and onion). By the way i have an open oven in my yard...

Hi Gergo, Have you tried contacting the seller's mobile phone? it is listed on the e-bay item.
Doug.

Hi Guys,

Finaly I could get into some closer connection with the seller by mail. Now i know what I need to know. A trailer is included in the sale, but I decided not to bring it home as it would be very diffucult. I just wanted to offer it to this friendly community. If any of You need it, it is free to go (maybe I can exchange it for a one night bed and breakfast :D).
Another question: theese early coupes were built around early mini power units. And thus the gear linkage is for an early box. What kind of gearbox can I use? Magic-wand or remote? The seller is willing to give an early 850ccm engine with the car, but afaik 850 engines were not fitted with remote boxes. But the original engine of this coupe was a 1071 "S" engine (unfortunatly not with the car anymore :(((( ). Soo, what kind of gearbox will I need to get?

850's had all 3 different types of box fitted as standard over the years.

Go for the rod change as the linkage is much easier to fabricate yourself if needed. Plus driveshafts are much easier to get hold of.

I even have a spare bracket that attaches to the gearbox and forms the pivot for the linkage that you can have. If you use the M6 you will be passing around 2 miles away from my house.
