A little teaser of how ive been getting on with these, those of the old forum will remeber my rear disc conversion that used 9 inch discs and had plans for the front as well, he is a spy shot of the new calipers on a dummy disc checking wheel clearance

Fill the wheels quite nicely i think

I like this, definitely going big brakes when I get my back together. Had Wilwood 4 pots on my GT40, liked them a lot.

Might have to bring one of my wheels down to you when you've done all the mods to see if mine clear as wheel. What offset are you running?

at the mo the caliper sits very very close to the spokes but have a small cunning plan to give a little more clearance, once ive got hold of the discs i can get on with the caliper mounts. hmm billet alloy :P , currently with the aid of a couple of other trick bits im hoping to save 1 Kg per corner with changing to these., having your cake and eating it, lighter and bigger brakes, these will be 10 inch discs

I now have real Discs :!: not cardboard

And have already modified one to fit the drivshaft flange and it looks good, clearances look good on the wheel may try and offer it all up to an upright this afternoon and start working out caliper mounts.

Well didnt get to look at caliper mounts this afternoon ended replacing some connectors in my wiring, and helping my dad on the new arrival to his collection of toys.

Im hoping to get the caliper mounts designed over Christmass break, then once i have had them made, mounted and they have passed testing i will then be in a postion to supply kits :!: so a realistic time scale is easter i reckon for complete kits for the conversion.

Whats under the cover :?: Dads Drag Car  now thats another story

Well slightly delayed due to everything eles going on, including buying more bits for the car, but have picked the brake kit back up today, Disc and driveflange mounted to my spare upright and started making the prototype caliper bracket to see where the fixings need to be before i go and get some Alloy and machine something up for the actual mount, looking promising so far.

a bit of a mad rush at the end of the day and i have the prototype mount made and caliper mounted to upright with disc then double checked the clearances on the wheel, Nice sensible clearance and one very filled wheel was the result, just some minor fettling to the prototype bracket needed now and then i can transfer the dimensions over to paper to machine the actual mounts :!: then it should be a case of machining the billet mounts, bolt them on and try them out :!:

How much clearance do you have between the wheel and the caliper. I believe most of the brake manufacturers recommend 3mm as a minimum (been looking at putting Porsche 996 calipers on my Audi S2)

Im pretty sure i have a little more than 3mm, it was very close to start with till i made a little cunning mod, will be taking further measurments on clearances this weekend before comiting to the final design. You be surprised how much things flex about even a wheel :!: and a caliper, saw some being tested a few weeks back at AP, i knew they flexed but not that much

Look rather large, very happy with the fitment of it all this evening, made all the research pre-fitment worth while just need to transfer the measurements from the prototype bracket to paper then machine up the final mounts. Then the fun bit get them on the scales out of interest and fit them.

Are you useing the normal 13" alloys for the coupe Neil ? Do you know that 15" alloy wheels off of a Rover 25 fit straight on a coupe, same stud spacing etc.? Look neat too.

Staying 13s

Those 15s may fit but they are not the same stud spacing :!: They will be like most modern cars and 100mm PCD, Now my Coupe uses standard Mini Driveflanges which arer 4 inch PCD, 4 Inch is 101.6mm Very close but i wouldnt like to run the wrong PCD wheels even if it was only a little, IT will add more stress to the studs etc I wouldnt advise it, but there is nothing stopping you having a set of driveflanges Redrilled to accept a 100mm PCD spacing. which would be the correct engineering way around it.

I think 13s suit the porportions of a coupe well, 15s are getting a little large and also there is the added weight of the 15 inch rim compared to a 13, and a few other side effects which will effect the handling for the worse

Thanks for that info West, I didn't realise the difference. Good job I didn't swap but I was tempted to put my Wifes car on bricks to give it a spin round the lump. I'll stick with the 13"
