Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Yeah, thats what I've done, it seems to be a well sorted piece of kit, i lkie the idea of the mastercylinders under the dash, there's heaps of room under there. just concerned about pedal ratio whhen the pedals are shortened by 2", it may just need some adjustment on the top section to accommodate such but I've asked that question also.

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Personally I would try to make it fit without shortening the pedals if I could so that way you keep the 6:1 ratio By the looks of it that might be possible especially with the cylinders under the dash with a bit of cunning mounting. WEST

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
My Coupe was built with a Fiat x19 pedal box which has a pedal ratio of about 6/1, the pedals were'nt altered in any way. The master cylinders are also under the dash so there no clearance issues but it does'nt look like it would be a very easy job to convert it to a bias system Andy, Neil, I had a quick word with KAD and their conversion kit does retain the original pedal ratio . Andy it may be worth asking Optimum Balance Products for a club discount or possibly organise a group buy if the pedal box will do the job and there's enough interest (well times are hard )

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Look at what I found after a quick look around ClickyFrom the manufactures website http://www.obp.uk.net a few other interesting things on there too I reckon that could possibly be made to fit a coupe by fitting it above the bulkhead and the pedals poking through, the cylinder flange bolting to the vertical part of the bulkhead and the cylinders on the inside. just need a detailed drawing to work from now then some additional bracing to the bulkhead job done! ive just designed it in my head just now WEST

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
West can you explain your idea with it a little further, I'm not entirely sure I follow you on the mounting position, I want to make sure that its going to work before a shell out the notes for it, please explain further.
I really think this is the piece of kit I need, I got sent that same info as you found and by the looks of that it appears that it actually sits lower down than that of a standard mini pedal box thus eliminating the need to shorten the pedals. i'm going to have another look at the diagram tonight to see if I have missed something, I like the idea of a group buy discount, how many would be interested if i approached them.

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Well I seem to be getting a good responce from this company, here's the latest info "Hello, this is a fantastic pedal box solution. The width is 240mm, the depth is 135mm, the depth with the master cylinders is 250mm. We can give you a 20% discount on Min of 5 units. Over 10 units we can give you a 30% discount. I look forward to hearing from you very soon. If you need to contact me direct you can email me at sales@obp.uk.net Best Regards, Grant."I have just asked for the total height of the unit from the mounting face to the base of the pedal, just want to confirm this before I go any further just to see what if any modifications are needed to the bulkhead of the coupe. If this unit works out how many people would be interested in the pedal box (i.e. group buy) approximate price without discount is £250 bare unit or £300 with all the cylinder and bias control. please let me know as I'm seriously looking into one for my project.

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Just a further update, the distance from the top mounting surface to the tip of the pedal is 320mm (approx)

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Andy, from the mounting point to the bottom of the pedal on my Fiat p/box is approximately 300mm with the pedal right up. I had a quick look at how to raise the p/box a bit, i would cut out the top of the bulkhead slightly bigger than the p/box weld 1"x1" or 2"x1" box on its edge (if you wanted to go that high) around the hole put some threaded inserts in and bolt a new plate with pedal box attatched onto the box with some reinforcing for the p/box mounting holes. The wiper mount would need shortening (there's about 1" clearance) So if if you wanted raise it more than 1" the wiper motor would need a rethink. That way you could remove it all from under the bonnet Thats how i would do it, i'm sure someone will come up with a better solution

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Yeah thats what I was thinking, the wiper motor would need to be shifted either to the opposite side or maybe under the dash also (thats what we did in the race mini), I still think its the best pedal box that i've seen, I have all the cylinders and also a bias control system so its only the box I need. Just now have to pursuade the wife to let me spend the money.

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Do you mean doing something like this? I'm using a single wiper system off a Saxo. The motor is on the other side of the car, so gives loads of clearance.

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
Yep something exactly like that, then box it back in at a higher position to suit the new box.

Re: Pedal Box and Master Cylinders
If you go an make a box to go on top the bulkhead to mount the pedals on it will also stiffen the bulkhead area, as that is some of the job of my box, it holds the brake pedal/cylinders and stiffens up the bulkhead, and also my column support bolts to the box to give a nice firm mounting WEST
