 engine probs
hi there,my engine is a A+ 1275 metro,the carb looks like a HIF 44 ? but its got six pipes on the side one is the fuel inlet,one the crankcase vent and one the vacumm pipe to the dissy what are the other three may be they are why the engine will not start.thanks for your time

One will be the float chamber vent.

Hi thanks for reply
attatched is picture of the carb. The green tabs indicate pipes that im unsure of the webber carb on the picture do yoy know what maintainance the sponge filter needs does it need to be soaked in oil or left clean and oil free Cheers

This is what I think they are.  I'm not sure about the bottom one. The best thing to do with that filter is to replace it with a properly designed one from K&N, Pipercross, ITG, Green or similar. The old Speedograph units don't flow and they don't really filter either.

Thats a Turbo HIF carb.
1 to fuel regulator top connection (Pressure sense) 2 Part throttle lean off, joined to 3 3 Part throttle lean off 4 Anti-run on valve 5 Fuel in 6 - Vac take off to Distributor

hi there thanks for your reply have i got the right carb for the car its a 1275cc a+ and could you tell me where these ports on the carb connect to?the 1 3 4 5 ports are about 5mm number 2 is about 10mm and i have got it connected from the carb to the 2 oil separators.number 6 is connected to the dizzy thanks for your time

But as far as hoses go, I would join 2 & 3 with a short hose. Then block off 1 & 4.

Thats a soo-called "economic" carb. Not realy power-friendly... I had problems with one of its kind with getting good CO results.
