Front bodywork mounting - the one under the fuel tank
I'd read somewhere that if the bonnet doesn't line up well with the tub the front mounting needs packing - it seemed to me that the fit was getting progressively worse, so I drained the tank and removed it. The origional builder had packed it using a pile of small diameter washers, these had broken through the fiberglass - the bolt probably wouldn't have kept on going through the bottom of the tank but still glad I checked it out.

Mine was packed the same way when I got it and I cut a piece of flat bar instead which will spread the load better.

Job done and it gave me a chance to renew the rubber fuel hose from tank to pump - it was quite perished.
Also told me that the pump pumps the tank almost dry and the fuel guage (acewell) starts flashing when there's almost two gallons left.
