Post Ball Joints
Hi,

I'm new to Mini based bits,so need some enlightenment.

My Rossa has failed MOT on top ball joint (off side rear)

Mini manual says to compress rubber spring with special tool thro engine compartment!!

How do this on the rear of a Rossa or am I being thick and missing something obvious

You dont need to compress the rubber spring (donut) to do the upper ball joint!
You just split the ball joint from the top arm to gain access to the ball joint!

I think all you need to do is to replace the rubber bump stop to make sure the top arm doesn't droop. It says it in the Haynes manual I think. Otherwise you won't be able to take the ball joint apart when you split it. Might just need a shim taking out to take out the play. Might be worth a little investigation before making up a shopping list of parts needed. You will save time getting a decent ball joint splitter, not one with a fork that you smack with a hammer!!

Good luck :D
