Re: Roll cage and Competition prep
WEST How about using a small diameter rod c4mm threaded at both ends, bond the top to a mount in the roof and anchor the base to the dash. Think of the weight you'd save. My MGB Roadster had one. Would make a good mount for rear view mirror too ( or do you not want to see whats come out your exhaust pipe ) Have seen these pictures, ok for a single seater set up and probably approved for sprinting. Wouldn't pass scutineer for rallying though probably ok for other discipline? The RAC would not aprove a second bend at the cill hence my mitred tube connection at the feet. Not sure about the bends in the door bars either. It's not a 'Mini' at the back so the rear struts are going to some other location than the top of the subframe tower. I tried very hard to get the RAC to agree to putting the rear struts through the body not the window but they said NO. I do have two very nice grommets to go in the rear window I am retaining the door pillars but have cut them and will internally sleeve them with cross bolts.

I don't think, Neil needs to look at all that blue smoke coming out of his new engine's exhaust   ...The cage is looking good peter. ...Why is the rear main cross beam missing thow???

Re: Roll cage and Competition prep
The cage pics i posted are of a msa approved cage for hillclimbing/sprints so no doubt there are differeances in rally specs.
the rear diagonals are joining to the top of the spaceframe in front of the mini tower mounts, the car still uses a mini subframe althou heavily modified simular to mine.
My engine may have developed a mall appertite for oil but there is minimal evidance its burning it through the exhaust, going to pop it open in the next few weeks hopefully for a look, may have damaged something when i had some troubles trying to get eh two nitrous kits to work together

Re: Roll cage and Competition prep
Hi Niel, good idea. Im still working on my build, just finished sorting the rear handbrake caliper using willwood spot calipers. Opted for the Optimum pedal kit and think needs the pedals bending. Cant believe just how much time these things take ! Is Tim from Sileby still a member?
