 1.8 Turbo engine in K3
Hi, Just exploring options: Has anyone looked at putting a 1.8 turbo engine in a GTM?
I ask because they seem to be cheaper and more plentiful than 160 VVC engines and by all accounts a flatter torque curve.
Also has anyone junked the Metro Subframes completely and built something to order?
Many thanks

Re: 1.8 Turbo engine in K3
Not sure about the turbo engine, there isn't much space available to the bulkhead, if the turbo is low down then maybe. I dumped the front subframe so that I could have coilovers and double wishbone suspension on the front, see pic, and made some retro fitting brackets to fit the existing rear subframe converting that to coilovers. It is an MGF rear subframe, basically the same as metro so I will be using stock MGF rear end. I just wanted to lose the hydragas and have some adjustment. Peter.

Hi PEEPS, Do you have any idea of the weight of your new front subframe? For that matter, does anyone know the weight of a MGF subframe?

Re: 1.8 Turbo engine in K3
The MGF subframe weighs 29 kgs approximately and the tubular one weighs 23 kgs. I just wanted adjustable wishbone suspension that would use the same mounting points. Peter.
