I used to have a spyder moved to a lotus now which is pretty much the same thing goes wrong all the time. with the rover alarm systems you need a matching key set the ECU, BCU and Key fods you're probably find that the fob will not operate the doors on your car but will operate the alarm system. it all needs to be from the same car. I purchased a car previously with the same issues it turned out the fob was not programmed correctly the car will turn over but not fire due to no power to fuel pump. if you test the pump and find it works this is where I would start.

Thanks for the info. I plan to do some more investigation over the weekend (if given approval from SWMBO!).
What bugs me is that it all would have been working fine at some point in the past, so there's either a fuse or connection issue. Failing that just old electronics, in which case your ebay link is a good option.

Some good news! Easy start worked and I got the engine running for a short period. Sounds freakin awesome, what an engine! Noticed 10 bar oil pressure according to the gauge! Something else to diagnose.

The 5AS seems to be working OK. Noticed that unless the key fob is very close to the dash it won't work as it's out of range.

Traced what I think is the wire to the fuel pump at the relay (white/purple) and gave it 12v, but the pump is still dead. Looks like I'm going to have to drop the tank... bummer. I might have to try the aluminium ladder under the tank trick!

Risky my V6 is the same massive oil pressure displayed must be a mismatch between sensor and gauge

Interesting. I was going to remove and check the oil pump PRV. Did your oil pressure reduce to a normal figure once warmed up?

Does come down but still high for tick over. Mine had a bypass hose where the oil cooler is on the MG some PO had fitted this with a jubilee clip with obvious consequences fortunately it went right outside home worth a check

Been out to check on first start up oil pressure is off scale at 90 psi been like this since I bought it so think there is a sensor/gauge mismatch sure the pump is not at that pressure

I'm itching to get out there and tinker with George (the Libra's new name), but I'm in lockdown with my partner and trying to pay her some attention and stay in her good books (failing!). It's obvious to her that I have another love taking up my thoughts and I'm sailing very close to the wind!

I'm away this weekend, taking the good lady down to Southbourne in Eric the Eunos Roadster turbo to visit friends, but hope to get under the George and lower the fuel tank next week... I can't wait! Not!

Bought a new Ramair filter and breather, passenger and rear view mirror, number plate, and just about to order new badges all round.

I've got a long list of things to do, but might have to take some leave to be able to get stuck in without upsetting SWMBO!
