 Brake switch
Can anyone remember how the brake switch was fitted to the early minis (i.e. on front right brake hose union), I need to put one on my Coupe kitcar (same setup) but can't remember what was needed in order to do so. At the moment there is a double union with a banjo bolt through the centre attaching onto the front RHS brake pipe, is it a case of removing the banjo bolt and replacing it with a switch or is there a special piece???

 Re: Brake switch
Yes.
There is a 180 degree double banjo fitting on the offside flexible hose and the brake light switch takes the place of the banjo bolt
BUT
to be honest I never liked it there. It gets exposed to all the road muck and the terminals corrode. I always mount mine up near the master cylinder by plumbing in an extra 3 way union.

 Re: Brake switch
Isn't a mechanical switch on the brake pedal a better design? I always thought that the pressure switches were a bit "Iffy".

 Re: Brake switch
Thanks guys, I thought that was the case, I too thought of moving it up out of the way and I think I will continue to do so, the switch on the pedal box is fine but mine is an aftermarket one and I don't want to go refabricating stuff as its been powdercoated already. Thanks again.

 Re: Brake switch
I found a photo of mine. You can just see the switch and the union in front of the brake master cylinder.
