 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
Sounds like a plan I will post you some pictures of my car in the next few weeks. My son is at uni and is useing it as a chassis project. I dont want to show the frame untill he has run it through the computer and confirmed it is safe.

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
My Mk2 Rossa in road trim was well over 800 Kilos. I seem to remember that a selling point of the K3 was that the body tub itself was lighter than a Mk2.
And my Mk2 without its roof bolted on had the torsional rigidity of trifle. So be careful where you remove weight from.

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
http://www.ijohnson.demon.co.uk/gtmoc/rossa.htm quotes Rossa at 700kg and K3 at 820kg, wonder if they're the wrong way round? Anyone got original brochures with quoted weights?

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
If my Rossa II was driveable right now I'd put it on a weighbridge to find out.
Anyone got any more weights quoted or actually weighed?

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
I did say body tub and it was a magazine quote. As for my car it was fuelled to go with spare wheel, roll hoop, roof etc. But I put it on a proper weighbridge with no driver or luggage 840kg.

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
840 kg - interesting, seems like I'll have to work harder to save weight and aim for more bhp

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
Hello These figures sound alot when you consider that a standard Mini in road trim weighs 720 How did they ever sell it as a sports car?

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
Mine was never remotely intended as a lightweight. I think I could easily have dropped 40kg without a lot of work at all. But I only actually measured it the once and I thought I'd let you know what it was. I'd be interested to know if anyone else measures theirs.

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
OK, I weighed a few bits (bathroom scales).
Rear lower section of bodywork (bit with bumper, lights and luggage bay) - 15KG
Engine cover section 12 KG.
Will weigh other bits as convenient - would anyone else be able to post weights?
Regards,
Allen

 Re: Rossa Mk11 weight saving
Well, car is mobile (if not actually mot'd ) Weighed on local public weigh bridge, accurate to 20KG I believe) All up weight (hard top, tank 1/4 full, no driver or tools) = 780KG Not very scientific but front of car (edge of bidge to middle of wheelbase) = 390KG Rear of car (edge of bridge to middle of wheelbase) = 430KG (as I under stand it the front and rear weights should add together to make the total ) Good news is that I've saved 300 grams fitting a new set of different wheel nuts Guess a full cage will add a good 25KG Anyone else weighed anything recently?
