I've got to say that blue will make an unusual K3 - very different from yellow or red or the purple one that I saw. Like it 8)

Thanks for the comments.

Heat sheild is some generic matting off ebay with 3 layers on the part closest to the manifold, the edges were tidied with heat resistant tape.

Really pleased with the trimming compared to the first guys attempts, it was carried out by Brockwell's in Kings Lynn (no website unfortunately)

Its Porsche mexico blue, looks really nice in the flesh but as you say very vivid in pics, but hey its got to compete with my last bright orange rossa.

Have been making progress on the K3, can't wait to get it back on the road.

Rear end nearly done:

Front end now to the same shiny standard, fitted with all new suspension parts, hoses, radiator:

Remodeled the front end as the sierra lights looked very out dated and were damaged and too expensive to replace:

Just need to find some 70mm indicator lamps to match.

New steering wheel to go with the new interior:

Well done, quality of work and detail especially the area's that you don't see much after a build is complete looks good. Good photo's clear and informative.

I did notice on one picture of the front end that you have still got the pressure reducer fitted to the lower part of the "T" connector fixed to the front bulk head. You may not need the reducer if you have fitted the rear calipers/hand brake mech off another Rover or MGF. You may not have much brake force at the rear.

Thanks for the comments, its the little details which bug me so i've been spending the time trying to get it all nice and tidy.

Thats a good point about the pressure regulators, the front calipers are standard 100 and the rears are MGF rear calipers. I guess only time will tell when the car goes on the roller brake tester.

All right, come on, you've kept us waiting long enough. Lets see a little more. There are one or two of us out here going through the same exercise and we are all striving to get to the same standard as yours! I have built my tubular front subframe with adjustable wishbone suspension, made conversion brackets to modify the standard subframe to take coilovers and made a custom fuel tank up to now. Next up will be a roll bar to stiffen up the back of the tub then fit the MGF engine and get to the greasy stuff before painting the shell. Not enough hours in a day!

That looks a credit to the hard work You've put in.

I hope that little mark on the floor (last pic) is someone else's fluid.

Very nice 8) To say that the car's like new would be an understatement - it's far better than that! That colour really suits it and is a nice change too. Well done 8)

I've never actually seen a K3 and your photos are very interesting in that the differences between it and my MK1 Rossa really stand out. Accessibility is much, much better and obviously lessons were learned and put into practice when the K3 was designed.

I was the second owner of this car and did a fair amount of work on it including putting in the 1600 engine. Speedo was on 36k when the engine was changed and the 1600 was very low mileage from a write off. Gearbox was a metro GTi. It does look nice in blue - good job. The stainless exhaust was from Dudley (Talon) and was relatively quiet. The extra shocks did make the car quite stiff which showed up the scuttle shake - there was a strengthing bar that went from a mock roll bar to the top of the windscreen which eliminated the scuttle shake. The rear anti-roll bar did make the handling a bit over-steery especially in the wet - narrower tyres on the front helped. I would be tempted to buy this but have too many cars - you interested in a mk2 hardtop MX5 (done 65K) that needs a new sill ??
