Post K3 Rebuild
After selling my mk2 rossa about 2 years ago i had the urge to by another gtm, this time a K3.

After a 520 mile round trip on monday to carlisle it was in norfolk, and has already clocked up 120 miles.

Plans are to strip and rebuild it over the winter to get it back to pristine condition.

The first few jobs have already been done: new throttle cable, sort out wiring fault on the N/S/F lights.

Hi - welcome to K3 ownership!
I think you have 14" wheels - do you know what make they are and could you tell me what the tyre sizes are, please?
Have the inner arches been trimmed to clear the tyres?
Many thanks.
John

I'm quite impressed with the K3 sofar, handles alot better that the rossa, and the front and rear clams are a much better design.

Yes they are indeed 14" wheels, they will be removed in the next few days so they can be shot blasted and painted/powdercoated black, so will inspect the arches to see if they've been cut and if there are any manufacturers markings on the inner face of the wheels.

Quite a few hours were spent staring at wiring diagrams, finally got it running again. The fuel pump is now controlled by the ECU as it should be, multiple wiring faults were tracked down and rectified, the wiring has all be re-wrapped and protected with convoluted tubing.

And i now have speaker wires in the car, as there were previously taped up in the loom and finishing up in the engine bay.

Fitted 2 new lengths of heater hose aswell, as the old hose had been rejoined in numerous places and was starting to perish.

Window regulator has been replaced with manual versions ready to have a new motor kit fitted.

Will be using one of these kits:

Also have some HID's to fit:

Looking very good,

I am sure the HIDs are illegal, unless fitted into a headlight unit that is suitable for HIDs (correct beam pattern), the car has self leveling headlights, and they must have washers.

You will fail the MOT unless the light pattern is correct.

The document is here; http://www2.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafet...headlamps.html

Keep the updates coming though as it may stir me do something.

Thanks for the comments guys, makes all the hard work feel worthwhile.

Have done a bit more.

New central locking solenoids and electric windows fitted and working very well, the kit was very simple to fit and seems very good quality:

Speakers and window switches fitted:

Has taken me a while but i've just noticed my alloys dont match, one side of the car has one style and another on the other side:

Would like to try and track down two more wheels to match this one:

I haven't worked out who its made by yet but i'm guessing it may have been rimstock/team dynamics:

This is the other style which is a KN Vector:

Both sets are 14 x 6 and fit with no body mods or spacers.

Good work, have you got supply and part details for the central locking solenoids and electric window kits?

Mine are well worn and noisy.

thanks,

Locking solenoids came from Maplins: http://www.maplin.co.uk/door-lock-motors-12304

The details of the wiring as the colours are different can be found here: http://www.metropower.org.uk/forum/foru ... 3&posts=25

The electric window kit was this item on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400189974930? ... 1439.l2649 was only £59.99 when i brought it, guessing they've put the price sky high as they're out of stock.

I had those window motors in my watch list on evilbay after you mentioned them and they were indeed £59.99 just looked and they are now £259.99. I will ask why when I get time and I assume there are others selling a similar if not same item at the original price.
The kit looks very comprehensive and you have done a nice job of fitting it.
