 Re: front indicators
Problem solved..after a trip to my local British car guy.. he suggested these.. so now on order.. dual filament and lower profile than the standard mini ones.. and will pretty much pop into existing holes.. https://www.holden.co.uk/displayProduct ... ode=L488/E

 Re: front indicators
They look great on the rear, although I think the front is a bit big for the space, but that's just my opinion . where did you get the script on the rear that is GTM Coupe?? Also what did you use between the body and the rear bumper as my car has nothing there?

 Re: front indicators
The Coupe script is Morris Marina from memory but it doesn't look like the images I found. look at the Ragingspeed link below, and the GTM letters are readily available from the likes of Europa. The black beading between the bumper and body is used between rear wings and bodies on Caterhams etc - again Europa. The rear lights are mounted on some carbon sheet which has stand off's behind so that they do not sit in to far. https://www.europaspares.com/page.asp?pageidx=35http://www.ragingspeed.com/UK/product_i ... 9e45ebfa9d

 Re: front indicators
Given that NAS is an acronym for North American Specification I would have thought you would be able to find a supplier relatively close for the Wipac ones if you had decided to go for them.
I've converted the rear to the Wipacs too but agree they look a bit big for the fronts. I actually have a set of rear lights from something (never been able to work out what they are from) that uses those Lucas ones and I've looked at them a couple of times but the rubber tends to perish (old ones are already perished and modern repro stuff is invariably made from rubbish that perishes in months rather than years).

 Re: front indicators
Iain, you would certainly think that would be the case..but Landrover is not as popular over here, so a lot fewer suppliers for aftermarket bits and bobs. There are a lot of bits available for anything North American built, and as of late Japanese, but still limited on British stuff..

 Re: front indicators
Hi just thought I would chip in with the light mods I carried out on my coupe. The rears have had the old holes glassed over then a new shape formed to suit the round light The front indicators have had a tunnel glassed in so they sit flat and dont have that "afterthought" look Good luck with yours Paul

Paul I Have to say IM liking the rear treatment. The bumper trim is a nice alternative. My Indicators Neil

 Re: front indicators
I've done similar at the rear for the Wipacs. At the top I'll have stop&tail plus an indicator and down at the bottom it'll have a fog at one side and reverse at the other - and I'll need reflectors. Still work in progress obviously. At the moment the front has some oblong units sort of nearly flush mounted - I don't know what they are from and I doubt the screws are going to come undone so they are going to be replaced as a matter of course. I'm quite liking the looks of the round Lucas ones in a slight recess so I suspect I'll copy those but use the later version of the lights. Iain

 Re: front indicators
I like the recesses look for the lights, especially on the front.. can anyone provide some info on how best to do that? I have not done much fiber-glassing, especially custom stuff like that.. Is there an easy way to approach it, any pics of the process. Thanks

 Re: front indicators
OK - how I did it (and I'm not necessarily saying this is the "right" way to do it). First I cut the existing huge light recesses out Then I made a mould of the area where the registration plate was. Had to be done in two parts because the lights were bigger than the plain space between them. That mould was then fastened over the holes. The light blue is the PVA release agent. Then gel-coat was applied on the inside. Followed by lots of layers of matting Initially to build up the holes to the same thickness as the original rear panel and then bigger pieces spanning the new and old fibreglass. Then it's filler and sanding on the outside till it looks pretty. Then I cut holes in it again One step forwards and two steps back? I made a multi-part wooden form to make the recesses. It just looks like a round boss made from two halves but the join in the middle was bevelled so that a third piece could be used like a wedge between them. I have a bit of an advantage here as woodturning is another hobby so for a round thing like this I can assemble the parts and then stick it on a lathe to make the shape I want. The whole lot was fastened to a melamine faced board (I actually turned it on the melamine board so I knew the face was parallel to the board), waxed and mould release agent. It then gets a coat of gel-coat followed by layers of matting and resin. Once it's the required thickness and cured the form can be dis-assembled from inside the GRP by removing the flat piece, pulling the wedge out and squeezing the two halves of the form together. You are left with what looks like a fibreglass ashtray. They now get the right holes drilled/cut in them to hold the lights. Fastening them to the car I used two methods - one of which made life complicated and I wouldn't recommend. The top two I cut the ashtrays down to the right depth less the thickness of the rear panel. Problem is that the rear panel is not a consistent thickness. So I made it consistent with a router and a biscuit cutting bit - fiddly and lots of risk of doing other damage if you lose control so not recommended. The bottom two I cut the hole in the body larger and fastened the new part in with it's top face level with the surrounding body - far simpler and my recommended method. They were initially attached with super-glue (cyanoacrylate) just to get them held in place. That's why the bottom one in my initial piccy has gaffer tape around the edges. And that's about where I'm up to. They will get a smear of filler around the joins on the outside to make sure there are no gaps and then I'll add yet more layers of fibreglass on the inside to actually bond them to the rear panel. Then it's return to the outside and fill/sand until they look pretty. For the fronts it'll be a variation of this process but I'll investigate aerosol can lids as forms because they look about the right size and have pretty curves at the corners already. They will probably be disposable forms and just get broken out from inside the new parts. Iain
