 Re: Paul's k3
Thats 50kg or two new bags of cement (HSE), hope its baffled, just think of 25 kgs sloshing around when cornering hard...
I thought it would be more than 10 gallons (45l), the Elise's tank looks alot smaller but contains 36l approx 8 gallons.

 Re: Paul's k3
I have cut a big hole in the tub for clearance for the clutch slave on the PG1 bracket and also the water outlet hoses on the cylinder head. I don't know if I have cut enough out of the tub for the water pipes to clear the tub I have put the black metro tank back in. so you can see how much the tank would stick out of the hole and hit the engine Quote: hope its baffled, just think of 25 kgs sloshing around when cornering ... I have put two baffles in the tank you can just see the welds on the tank

 Re: Paul's k3
I bet making that cut was nerve wracking! What are your plans for closing it back in?

 Re: Paul's k3
Yes, it was nerve-wracking! Cutting a big hole in my car I have gone past the point where I can go back now I have some thin plastic sheet to put inside and bend round so I can lay some fiberglass mat on and fill the hole

 Re: Paul's k3
Paul, top tip, place the plastic sheet on the outside, paint on gel coat from the inside then laminate up. It will give you a gelcoat finish to tidy up instead of glass mat. Peter.

 Re: Paul's k3
I have pushed the engine back in place and there is still not much room to get the pipes in I'm glad I cut some more out from the tub there is just room for all the pipes at some point, I will have to make a better job with the pipes but for now, they will do and I have started to put the tank in

 Re: Paul's k3
That is all good progress. I found I ran out of things to take pictures of at that stage as there doesn't seem to be much difference between before and after!
Coming together nicely - shouldn't have any trouble having it done for Stoneleigh now!
