 Re: Rear wheels
Hi Harold, I think that will do the job for you at 1900c when it is heated it should loosen and be able to remove, then grease everything and put it back. John

 Re: Rear wheels
John, My plan was not to take it off and refurbish it, but maybe that's the only good way to go. Are new toe-in-adjusting-bars available somewhere if I can't loosen te nuts? And nuts with right- en lefthand thread. I'll try not to burn my car and garage down, I've heard some people do

 Re: Rear wheels
Some body on here will recommend a company making tie rods with right and left hand threaded ends, I have to make my own here at the ends of the earth and am just sorting out a new rear stear locking system to fix to the lower arm and caliper back plate (could be Plan F) anyway think posative everthing I have heated has come loose dont burn the car, I lost my 1st Cox GTM in a garage fire

 Re: Rear wheels
PS Harold, I do have a rear steer locking system which won't be used as it fouled my old Cox exhaust, if you're in the UK for the Stoneleigh kit car show I should be there on the Monday with my Jedi race car. John

Do you mean 1-2 mm per wheel, measured from back to front of the rim? (Not tire)

 Re: Rear wheels
Thans guys. @ John: you got my hint about setting the car on fire Hopefully I Will be able to loosen the nuts. The soldering- torch is on it's way Cleaning and Coppergrease will hopefully make it as new... The chance that I will be at stoneleigh is not very large. I Will check mcGills too. Any idea what kind of thread the rod has? Can I just keep on turning the rod untill it comes out? How long is the thread?

 Re: Rear wheels
If the tie rod is a British Leyland part it will be a UNF thread probably 1/2", whenever I make something I usually go metric as its so much easier to find taps and bolts, etc, once it starts to move keep going until its out, probably 1-1/2" long Don't worry I got the hint, that was a very sad day I will dig out and post pictures after the fire John
